  • The self-sufficiency standard is the amount of income needed for a household to sustain itself without public or private assistance. According to a recent update of the standard for Ohio, in Franklin County a household of one adult and no children would need $18,974 per year to be self-sufficient, whereas a household of two adults, one preschooler, and one school-age child would require $53,290 per year to be self-sufficient.
  • Among Columbus Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) counties, Franklin County’s self-sufficiency standard is most similar to Delaware County.
  • For a family with two adults and two children (1 preschooler, 1 school-age), the self-sufficiency income required in Franklin County is more than $8,700 per year greater than in Madison County.
