The following are key points from the data in the tables and graphs found on the “Data” tab. The “Sources and Notes” tab provides additional information about the data.

  • In 2008, Franklin County had a labor force participation rate of 70.8%, compared to 65.8% in Ohio.
  • Except for the 16-24 age bracket, the labor force participation rates for men in Franklin County were higher than those for women in 2008. The biggest gender gap was in the 25-44 age bracket, which had a 9.3 percentage point difference between males and females. This gap is in part due to the inclusion of prime child-bearing years in the age bracket.
  • Women with children age 6 and under in Franklin County had a labor force participation rate of 72.4% in 2008. This figure is somewhat lower than the rate among women age 25-44 (81.1%) and far lower than men age 25-44 (90.4%).
