The following are key points from the data in the tables and graphs found on the “Data” tab. The “Sources and Notes” tab provides additional information about the data.

  • According to the 2010 American Community Survey, median income for all Franklin County households was $47,557, whereas in the state of Ohio the median income was $45,090. In the city of Columbus, median income was $41,397.
  • Throughout the county, more than one in four households (27.1%) had annual incomes less than $25,000, whereas fewer than one in five households (17.7%) had incomes of $100,000 or greater.
  • In 2010, more than 84% of Franklin County households with incomes under $10,000 were concentrated in Columbus.
  • Higher-income households were more likely to be in suburban areas of the county. Among county households with $200,000 or more in income, 65.1% resided outside of Columbus.
