The following are key points from the data in the tables and graphs found on the “Data” tab. The “Sources and Notes” tab provides additional information about the data.

  • Government, education, banking, insurance, and health comprised many of Central Ohio’s largest employers in 2010. The State of Ohio was the largest employer in the region with 25,608 employees, followed by the Ohio State University with 23,093 and JPMorgan Chase at 16,975.
  • In Franklin County, government represented 17.1% of employment in 2009. Other top sectors included Healthcare and Social Assistance and Retail Trade. The total number of employees in the county across all industries was 758,140.
