The following are key points from the data in the tables and graphs found on the “Data” tab. The “Sources and Notes” tab provides additional information about the data.

  • There were 4,723 properties sold at sheriff's sale in Franklin County in 2009, with more than 3 out of every 4 (76.6%) of those properties in the city of Columbus.
  • Columbus had the highest rate of properties advancing to sheriff's sale in 2009 (16.9).  Other Franklin County municipalities with rates greater than 10 per 1,000 properties included Whitehall (16.7, Reynoldsburg (10.9), and Grove City (10.7).
  • In both Columbus and Frankin County, the amount of properties with foreclosre filings has increased from 2006 to 2009.
