The following are key points from the data in the tables and graphs found on the “Data” tab. The “Sources and Notes” tab provides additional information about the data

  • Franklin County’s 2005–2007 three-year-average suicide death rate was 12.5 per 100,000, higher than Ohio's 2005–2007 rate of 11.1 and above the U.S. rate of 11.0 in 2005.
  • In 2005–2007 the suicide death rate for Franklin County males was almost four times that of females. For males and females the suicide death rate for Franklin County was higher than the Ohio and U.S. rates.
  • In 2005–2007 in Franklin County, 61.2% of deaths by suicide occurred among those between 25 and 54 years of age. Suicide rates are lower for persons aged 55–74 but increase for persons 75-84 years old.
