  • Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Family Health Survey, Ohioans Without Health Insurance, 2008; Franklin County Board of Health

Definitions:

  • Health coverage: Health coverage includes health insurance, prepaid plans such as HMOs, and government plans such as Medicare.

Explanations and Caveats:

  • The 2008 Ohio Family Health Survey was developed to obtain baseline statewide data on health insurance coverage, health status, health risk behaviors, access to care, health care utilization, health care costs, satisfaction with care, and unmet health needs. The survey data for all three iterations (1998, 2004, and 2008) are not fully comparable dut to changes in design and questions to improve quality of the results. Conducted from August 2008 through January 2009, the 2008 survey obtained responses from over 51,000 adults and gathered information on more than 13,000 children.
