Definitions:
- Performance: In 2009–2010, the Ohio Department of Education applied 26 state indicators and continued to use the following measures to look at the performance of schools and districts: a performance index (PI), a performance index growth calculation, and the federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) requirements.
- Enrollment: For 2009–2010, enrollment is defined as the average daily enrollment reported by a school district.
- 2009-2010 State of Ohio Performance Rating Categories: The performance ratings for school districts in Ohio depend on the following factors:
- Performance index score: a calculation of students’ performance on state tests
- Improvements in the performance index score over two years
- Federal No Child Left Behind goals for improvement on reading and math tests
- 26 State Performance Standards: Fourteen of the standards involve passage rates for the achievement tests for grades three through eight. Ten standards involve passage of the five sections of the Ohio Graduation Test in grades 10 and 11. The other two standards are for student attendance rates and graduation rates.
