- In school year 2010–2011, 46.2% of all Franklin County students (74,588) were eligible for free or reduced-price lunches compared to 30.0% in the 1999–2000 school year. The Franklin County rate is higher than the overall Ohio rate of 44.0% in the 2010–2011 school year.
- Six Franklin County School districts (Whitehall, Columbus, Hamilton, Groveport Madison, South-Western, and Reynoldsburg) were above the state average for the percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunches (44.0%). Four of the five districts (Whitehall, Columbus, Hamilton, and Groveport Madison) had students with median household incomes less than the state average.
