  • In 2009, Franklin County had at least 354 full-time childcare centers providing 35,501 slots, 169 out- of -s chool -time programs with 10,363 slots, 151 preschools with 8,359 slots, 34 Head Start programs with 1,986 slots, and 437 family child care homes providing 2,634 slots.
  • In 2009, there were 77,363 children under age 5 and 39,016 female-headed households with children under age 18 in Franklin County ; these data are indicators of the need for childcare services.
